Eeek! High School!

I asked my parents for advice on high school  and they said that high school was a very hard time for both of them; they both wish they were able to do more.

This is my list of thing my parents taught me as I was growing up, just side comments that stuck:

Don't do drugs

Don't drink
Don't trust strangers
Don't take candy from strangers
Be Respectful
Try to be safe
You are responsible for what you do
And most importantly..
Don't touch the stove while It's on...

Now this is the more deep advice they gave me in summary:
Do as much as you can, without doing to much, because you only live once, YOLO! (really my dad said this) and that we should get to experience everything while it is still possible.

My mom said I should go to ALL the dances and have a good time with all my friends because after high school, you never know if you will see your friends anymore, we all go off to college, get degrees, and start our adult lives, Independently.

My Dad told me that when you reach high school people often think that they are there solely to get an education. He wants me to learn but he also wants high school to be filled with memories for me to glance back on and remember for the rest of my life.
I wish my parents told me more about their school years before now because, as I listen to them, I begin to hear how different school was for them and how privileged students are in school today. I want to go to high school and follow their advice to try as much as I can.
Thank you Mom and Dad!
